SPM Student Breaks Arm After Riding Unlicensed Motorcycle Against Traffic

Date:

A 17-year-old student was seriously injured after riding his motorcycle against traffic and crashing head-on into a car along Jalan MKH Boulevard 2, Jalan Bukit, yesterday.

According to China Press, the teen had just completed his SPM examination and took to the road on an unlicensed motorcycle while carrying a 20-year-old male pillion rider. He was seen riding against the flow of traffic moments before the collision.

Kajang District Police Chief Asst Comm Naazron Abdul Yusof said investigations confirmed that the teenager ignored traffic direction signs and entered the opposite lane, where he collided with a car driven by a 30-year-old man.

Police also found that the teen did not possess a valid motorcycle licence.

The impact threw both the rider and his passenger onto the road, and they were rushed to Kajang Hospital. The student suffered leg injuries and a fractured left arm, while the pillion rider and car driver escaped unharmed.

A 37-second video of the crash had already gone viral before police released their findings, showing the motorcycle travelling against traffic before slamming into the oncoming vehicle.

The case is being investigated under Section 43(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 for reckless and dangerous driving.
