A Malaysian mother has shared her son’s harrowing journey after he had to undergo a major dental procedure to remove all 12 of his severely damaged teeth due to cavities, sparking widespread attention on Facebook.
The boy, who had been experiencing persistent headaches, vomiting, and dizziness, was initially taken to a clinic and later admitted to Hospital Sultanah Nur Zahirah (HSNZ) for further monitoring. While routine tests, including a CT scan, revealed no serious brain issues, doctors discovered a small hole in his heart and noted severe dental decay.
Specialists determined that none of his teeth could be saved, requiring complete extraction. The operation, which was carefully prepared over months due to his health condition, went smoothly. The boy recovered gradually, with doctors closely monitoring him for complications.
The mother admitted the tooth decay was largely due to prolonged bottle feeding until age four and insufficient oral hygiene. She expressed guilt but gratitude that her son is now healthy, energetic, and recovering well, despite also managing other conditions such as eczema and a squint eye.
