An officer from the Malaysia Border Control and Protection Agency (AKPS) has been remanded for four days over suspected involvement in an attempted “flying passport” activity at the Sultan Iskandar Building (BSI) on Thursday morning.
AKPS BSI commander Roszita Dim said the incident occurred around 11.30am when members of the AKPS BSI Integrity Unit conducted a spot check on an officer stationed at the MyBorderPass counter.
During the inspection, the 32-year-old officer was found violating Administrative Instruction No. 01/2024, which governs the handling, storage, and use of telecommunications devices during work hours.
“He was carrying two mobile phones while on duty and failed to surrender them at the supervisor’s counter before starting his shift,” Roszita said.
Further checks uncovered eight foreign passports—six from China, one Indonesian and one Vietnamese—hidden in a black bag stored in the compartment of the officer’s Honda Vario motorcycle parked at BSI.
The case is being investigated under Section 12(1)(f) of the Passport Act 1966. All items, including the passports, the motorcycle, and both mobile phones, have been seized.
AKPS reminded all personnel stationed at national entry points to strictly comply with integrity procedures, warning that violations or unlawful activities will not be tolerated.
