A 21-year-old university student was charged in the Jeli Sessions Court today with two counts of sexual offences involving a 17-year-old female Form Five student.
Muhammad Yushakimi Jamaludin pleaded not guilty to the charges of committing unnatural sex and sexual assault in a Perodua Myvi at a car park in Lata Janggut, Jeli, on November 29.
The first charge, under Section 377A of the Penal Code, relates to intentionally committing unnatural sex, punishable by up to 20 years’ imprisonment and whipping under Section 377B. The second charge, under Section 14(d) of the Sexual Offences Against Children Act 2017, pertains to physical sexual assault and carries a similar penalty.
Deputy public prosecutor Siti Aiysha Na’ilah Harizan appeared for the prosecution, while the accused was represented by Habibah Wahab. Bail was set at RM10,000 for both charges with one surety, and the case is scheduled for mention on January 11.
Investigations revealed that the suspect had picked up the victim from her school and was interrupted by police before the sexual activity could occur.
