Rantau Rep Tok Mat Criticises Imbalanced Power-Sharing Between PH and BN

Date:

Rantau assemblyman Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan has voiced strong dissatisfaction over what he described as an imbalanced distribution of political posts in the Negri Sembilan government, saying it contradicts the spirit of cooperation upheld at the federal level.

Mohamad, popularly known as Tok Mat, said the allocation of positions should reflect the unity government model practised nationally, especially since the state administration is jointly formed by Pakatan Harapan (PH) and Barisan Nasional (BN).

“As a partner in forming the Negeri Sembilan government, I feel disappointed. At the federal level, we pledged to govern the country together. The same should apply here,” he said during the state assembly sitting.

He noted that the unity government at the federal level balances ministerial roles between PH and BN, but the recent decisions in Negeri Sembilan did not follow the same principle.

“It should be one for you, one for me. But here, it’s two for you and none for us. That is not right,” he added.

Mohamad, who is also the MP for Rembau, stressed that all component parties in the state’s unity government must show mutual respect. He said the unequal distribution has caused frustration among grassroots members, making it difficult for BN to explain the situation on the ground.

He suggested that even the allocation of senators should be shared equally between PH and BN to maintain trust and cooperation.

“Decisions like this are unacceptable. I do not want this to happen again. Respect your partners. If we invest together, we should gain and lose together—but here, the investment is uneven,” he said.

Mohamad expressed hope that such issues will not recur, warning that they could trigger deeper dissatisfaction, particularly among Umno grassroots.
