Two Girls Killed, One Seriously Hurt in Motorcycle Crash in Batu Kikir

Date:

Two friends were killed while another was seriously injured after the motorcycle they were riding skidded off the road at Jalan Taman Musytari, Batu Kikir, on Saturday afternoon.

Jempol police chief Superintendent Norhisham Mustapar said the accident occurred at about 5.55pm. The rider, aged 13, and the middle pillion rider, aged 10, suffered severe head and hand injuries and were pronounced dead at the scene. The rear pillion rider, also 13, sustained serious head injuries and fractures to her legs, and is currently receiving treatment at Tuanku Ampuan Najihah Hospital in Kuala Pilah.

Preliminary investigations indicated that the three female students were riding a Honda C100 motorcycle from Taman Mawar to Taman Musytari when the rider lost control. The motorcycle skidded onto the right shoulder of the road before crashing into a tree.

The bodies of the two victims were sent to Jempol Hospital for post-mortem examinations.

In a separate incident in Machang, Kelantan, a 19-year-old Universiti Teknologi Mara (UiTM) student was killed after being hit by a motorcycle on campus yesterday evening.

Machang police chief Superintendent Ahmad Shafiki Hussin said the accident happened at about 6.20pm when a motorcycle travelling from the main gate of UiTM Machang Branch towards the hostel struck the student as she suddenly crossed the road. The motorcyclist reportedly swerved to the left but was unable to avoid the collision.

Both cases are being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
