Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has reaffirmed that Malaysia remains one of the most peaceful countries in the world, despite its complex racial, religious and regional diversity.
He said Malaysia’s success in managing diversity has strengthened international confidence and positioned the country as a stabilising force in the region.
“Whatever is said and done, this country, despite its complexity in terms of regional aspirations as well as racial and religious diversity, is certainly one of the most peaceful countries in the world,” he said.
Anwar was speaking at the Christmas High-Tea reception organised by the Christian Federation of Malaysia (CFM), which was attended by about 800 members of the Christian community. Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusoff was also present at the event.
The Prime Minister said Malaysia’s peaceful track record continues to earn the trust of neighbouring countries and the wider international community.
He added that regional and global leaders have confidence in Malaysia’s ability to help ease conflicts and promote dialogue, citing the trust placed by neighbouring countries such as Cambodia and Thailand in Malaysia’s role as a facilitator in reducing regional tensions.
The event was enlivened by several performances and marked a celebration of unity and harmony among Malaysia’s diverse communities.
