Education Minister Fadhlina Sidek expressed her appreciation after being retained in her post following yesterday’s Cabinet reshuffle.
Speaking to the media during an engagement session, Fadhlina said she was grateful for the trust placed in her to continue leading the Education Ministry.
“I would like to record my gratitude and appreciation for the confidence given to me to continue serving the ministry,” she said. “God willing, we will strive to do better and ensure we do what is best for our education system and for our children.”
The Wanita PKR chief has previously faced calls to step down following a series of serious incidents in schools, including cases involving murder, rape and bullying. She has acknowledged shortcomings in her leadership and said the criticism had served as motivation to improve.
Fadhlina also stressed that constructive, fact-based criticism from the media should not be seen as a threat, but as an important pillar of a healthy democracy. She said the media plays a crucial role in highlighting how ministry policies impact schools and local communities.
“Honest and fact-based criticism reflects the voice of the people and must be accepted with an open heart, as this is where improvements begin,” she said. “Every leader must face this with maturity and have the courage to provide answers.”
