A father and his child were killed in a two-vehicle collision at Kampung Melintang, near here, this afternoon.
The accident occurred at about 1.50pm and involved a Perodua Alza multi-purpose vehicle and a Toyota Lexus. Both victims, who were travelling in the Alza, were pronounced dead at the scene.
Jeli Fire and Rescue Station operations commander Mohammad Asraf Mat Naz said the department received an emergency call at 1.59pm and immediately dispatched eight personnel to the location.
Initial findings showed that the crash was a head-on collision, causing the Perodua Alza to overturn and plunge down a roadside embankment.
“Two occupants of the Alza were trapped in the vehicle and had to be extricated. Both were later confirmed dead, while the driver of the Toyota Lexus suffered only minor injuries,” he said.
The bodies of the victims were subsequently handed over to the police for further investigation.
