Date:

A massive fire destroyed 54 old bazaar units along Jalan Idris, Kampung Masjid, Kampar, early this morning.

Acting assistant director of operations for the Perak Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM), Shazlean Mohd Hanafiah, said the department received an emergency call at 3.10am and immediately dispatched personnel from the Kampar, Gopeng, and Tapah fire and rescue stations.

“All 54 bazaar units were destroyed and none could be saved. Only 10 of the units were operating at the time, including clothing shops, grocery outlets, and food stalls,” he said.

The building was an old, single-storey wooden structure classified as Class C construction, measuring approximately 45 feet by 110 feet. The damage is estimated at 100 per cent, and no casualties were reported.

The firefighting operation involved four fire engines and 25 personnel. Firefighters managed to bring the blaze under control by 7.46am.
