A tragic ambush unfolded in Ohio on July 23 when three police officers were shot in a surprise attack at a dead-end street. The gunman, identified as a 28-year-old man from Lorain, was killed during the confrontation.
Authorities report that two officers had parked in an undeveloped industrial area to eat lunch when the suspect—armed with a high-powered rifle—opened fire from a concealed position. A third officer responding to the scene was also struck and seriously injured.
The assailant was found carrying multiple weapons. It remains unclear whether he died from police gunfire or took his own life.
Two of the wounded officers sustained multiple gunshot wounds and are in critical condition at a trauma center. The third officer was shot in the hand and is receiving treatment at a local medical facility.
The suspect’s motive is currently unknown, and investigations are ongoing.
