The Democratic Action Party (DAP) Stampin branch has urged contractors working on the Autonomous Rapid Transit (ART) project to urgently fix hazardous potholes along the road connecting the Arena Sukan sports complex to Vivacity Shopping Mall.
Sim Kiat Leng, special assistant to Stampin MP Chong Chieng Jen, raised the issue following public complaints, warning that the worsening road conditions pose serious safety risks. “Given past incidents where vehicles suffered punctures, failing to act could result in more severe accidents,” he said.
Sim identified three major potholes: one large one in the middle of the road near the Arena Sukan entrance, and two more at the junction before Lorong Wan Alwi 1.
While advising motorists to exercise caution, he encouraged the public to report similar hazards to ensure timely repairs. “Road safety is not minor. Any negligence can have serious consequences. Relevant parties must act quickly and responsibly to protect the public,” he stressed.
