Kuching Woman Missing in China After Solo Work Trip, Family Seeks Help

Date:

A young woman from Kuching has gone missing for several days after traveling alone to China for work, sparking concern for her safety. Her family has lodged a police report and sought assistance from the Ministry of Home Affairs.

The missing woman, 25-year-old Yang Meiling (transliteration), flew from Kuching to Kuala Lumpur on Dec 8 before transiting to China the following day, according to her sister.

Yang, who usually shared updates of her trips on Instagram, posted less frequently during this journey, with her last social media update on Dec 15. Based on that post, it appears she was in Huzhou at the time.

Her sister said Yang last contacted their mother on Dec 18, stating she would return home on Dec 19, but has not been heard from since. It remains unclear whether she traveled with anyone, though a friend mentioned she may have been accompanied by a Chinese national, whose identity has yet to be verified.

The family also contacted Yang’s employer, who stated no colleagues had traveled with her. A police report was filed on Dec 21, and the family is urging anyone with information to come forward.

Those with details on Yang’s whereabouts are asked to contact the police or the family directly at 019-3321314.
