Date:

A 10-year-old boy was killed in a road accident after the motorcycle he was riding on with his uncle collided with a lorry along Jalan Kampung Chenis, Pahi, earlier today.

Kuala Krai district deputy police chief DSP Mohd Maizan Mustaffa said the incident occurred at about 10.55am. The lorry was travelling from the Kota Bharu–Gua Musang main road towards Kampung Chenis to deliver soil, while the motorcycle, ridden by the victim’s 35-year-old uncle, was heading to the boy’s grandfather’s house in Bukit Pelampong.

“At the location of the accident, the motorcycle collided with the right side of the lorry, which was coming from the opposite direction. The victim, who was the pillion rider, suffered severe head injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. His uncle sustained minor injuries,” he said when contacted by Bernama.

The boy’s body was sent to the Forensic Unit at Sultan Ismail Petra Hospital for a post-mortem examination. The case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.

DSP Mohd Maizan also urged members of the public with information about the incident to contact the Kuala Krai district police headquarters traffic police station or the investigating officer, Insp Nurhasmira Tajol, at 09-9666222.
