A 38-year-old contract worker, Mohd Fazrul Azlan Kahiruddin, was charged today in the magistrate’s court with criminal intimidation and possessing obscene images of his girlfriend.
Mohd Fazrul, who appeared before Magistrate Uthman Abd Ghani, pleaded not guilty to both charges.
The first charge accuses him of threatening a 36-year-old teacher with the intent to cause injury and alarm, under Section 506 of the Penal Code. The offence carries a maximum two-year jail term, a fine, or both upon conviction.
The second charge involves possession of several obscene images, under Section 292 of the Penal Code, punishable by up to three years in prison, a fine, or both.
The alleged offences reportedly occurred at a residence in Taman Desa Bertam, Melaka Tengah, around 10pm on November 21.
Deputy Public Prosecutor Syauqi Mardia Baharudin requested a mention date and proposed bail of RM7,000 for both charges. The accused, who was unrepresented, requested a lower bail due to irregular income as a contract worker.
The court granted bail of RM4,000 with one surety and set January 30 for mention.
