A four-year-old boy was killed, while his father, younger sibling and another pillion rider were seriously injured after the motorcycle they were travelling on collided with a pickup truck along Jalan Kampung Tampi-Tampi yesterday afternoon.
The incident occurred at about 3.50pm when the motorcycle, ridden by the boy’s father, crashed into a pickup truck that was making a right turn at a junction. The child sustained severe injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.
District police chief Superintendent Tan Hiap Wah said the crash involved a pickup truck driven by a 20-year-old woman and a motorcycle ridden by a 35-year-old man with three pillion riders.
He said the injured victims included the boy’s father, a 28-year-old adult male pillion rider, and the victim’s three-year-old sibling, all of whom suffered serious injuries.
“Preliminary investigations indicate that the accident occurred when the motorcycle carrying the victims collided with the pickup truck as it was turning right at the junction,” he said in a statement last night.
Police are seeking witnesses to assist with the investigation. Those with information are urged to contact 012-365 0021.
