BTS Confirms First Group Album In Nearly Four Years — Drops March 20

Date:

BTS fans have reason to celebrate: the K-pop supergroup has officially confirmed the release date for their first album in nearly four years.

The seven members — RM (31), Jin (33), Suga (32), J-Hope (31), Jimin (30), V (30), and Jung Kook (28) — recently sent handwritten notes to select members of their official fan club, BTS ARMY. The notes included a membership card confirming that the new album will drop on March 20.

The release date was also independently confirmed by South Korean media outlets, according to Variety.

Their previous album, Proof, was released in June 2022, shortly before the band went on an extended hiatus for mandatory military service in South Korea — a requirement for all male citizens.

BTS had first announced that new music was forthcoming during a group livestream in July 2025, their first in nearly three years. At the time, they said recording would begin soon but did not provide a release date.

“Since it will be a group album, it will reflect each member’s thoughts and ideas. We’re approaching the album with the same mindset we had when we first started,” the group said during the livestream. They also confirmed plans to tour following the album’s release.

BTS, formed in 2013, steadily gained popularity within the K-pop scene and broke into mainstream international success in 2017 with hits like “MIC DROP” and “DNA.” Over the years, they have had six songs reach the Billboard Hot 100, solidifying their status as one of the most successful K-pop acts of all time.

During the hiatus, each member pursued solo projects, with all releasing at least one solo album between 2022 and 2025.
