A 20-year-old Thai woman in Rayong province has come forward after enduring severe domestic abuse, claiming that her husband forced her to have sexual relations with her father-in-law and recorded the acts to sell online for profit. She revealed that she became pregnant during this period but is unsure of the father’s identity. The case was brought to light after the woman sought help from the media, prompting police to intervene and arrest both her husband and father-in-law.
According to reports by Thaiger, the woman married her 22-year-old husband a year ago and lived together in Rayong. She worked as a shop assistant while her husband sold ice cream, but their incomes were insufficient to cover living expenses. The husband allegedly coerced her into sex work to make money, escalating abuse and control that had already begun during their courtship.
The woman initially reached out to local media via Facebook, describing her situation. The media arranged a discreet meeting and alerted the Nikhom Pattana Police Station. Police successfully rescued her. She stated that her husband forced her to engage in sexual acts with her father-in-law, filmed them, and profited from distributing the videos online.
She further explained that her husband used social media to solicit clients for her, personally took her to meet them, and monitored her to prevent escape. Refusing any of his or her father-in-law’s demands would result in beatings, and her phone was confiscated. She lost all contact with her family and friends and lived under constant fear until she managed to secretly reach out for help.
The woman is now approximately three months pregnant but does not know who the father is, as she was forced to have unprotected sex by multiple parties, including her husband, father-in-law, or clients. Authorities have charged her husband with forcing someone into sex work, profiting from explicit videos, and violating Thailand’s Computer Crime Act.
Her father-in-law claimed he only had one sexual encounter with her last year, but evidence led authorities to charge him with sexual assault. The woman’s mother-in-law expressed shock and anger over the situation, insisting she had no prior knowledge, would not protect any family member involved, and demanded legal accountability.
