63-Year-Old Pleads Not Guilty to IED and Explosives Charges in Seremban

A 63-year-old man, Yeoh Hock Sun, pleaded not guilty today to five charges related to an improvised explosive device (IED) incident allegedly committed last month, during proceedings held at Hospital Tuanku Jaafar in Seremban.

Yeoh, who remained confined to a hospital bed, entered his plea before Judge Datin Surita Budin. Court proceedings began at 9.50am but were briefly adjourned for 20 minutes after Yeoh complained of sudden shortness of breath. He received further treatment from an attending medical specialist before proceedings resumed at 10.15am, with Yeoh in stable condition. The media were not allowed inside the hospital during the hearing.

According to reports, Yeoh allegedly caused damage to a Mitsubishi L200 Triton belonging to a 47-year-old man on December 22, 2025, at Desa Palma Apartments, Nilai. He was charged under Section 435 of the Penal Code, which carries a maximum of 14 years’ imprisonment and a fine upon conviction.

Yeoh faces three additional charges of possessing explosives with intent to cause injury. These offences allegedly occurred on the same date at multiple locations in Nilai and Mantin, and are punishable under Section 3 of the Corrosive and Explosive Substances and Offensive Weapons Act 1958, which carries up to seven years’ imprisonment and whipping.

He was also charged under Section 4 of the same Act for the unlawful use of an IED with intent to cause injury, punishable by up to three years’ imprisonment and whipping. Bail was denied, and the next mention date is set for February 12. The prosecution is led by Deputy Public Prosecutor Norazihah Asmuni.
