Brooklyn Beckham Asked Parents To Contact Him Only Through Lawyers Amid Family Rift

Date:

Relations between the Beckhams broke down so badly last summer that eldest son Brooklyn reportedly asked his parents to contact him only through his lawyers.

It has emerged that legal letters were exchanged between Brooklyn and his parents — or more accurately, between their respective legal teams at Schillings and Harbottle & Lewis. Brooklyn requested that his parents refrain from contacting him directly or making public statements about him on social media.

There was no legal action involved, and the letters had no binding effect; they were simply a formal request. The move came after Brooklyn grew frustrated with what he considered a series of “nasty” briefings about his wife, Nicola Peltz Beckham, including suggestions that he was a “hostage” being “controlled” by her.

Sources say the situation may explain why Brooklyn blocked his parents — as well as brothers Romeo and Cruz — on social media shortly before Christmas. Despite the blocks, the Beckhams had been interacting with his posts, such as liking his cooking photos, which Brooklyn felt went against his wish to be left alone.

Friends and publicists on both sides have declined to comment this week, hoping tensions will ease and relations can be repaired.

A source noted that David Beckham was instructed to communicate with Brooklyn through Schillings, which was reportedly the only acceptable channel for contact at the time.

Brooklyn and Nicola, who married in April 2022, were reportedly upset by Instagram posts from his parents and would wake up worrying about what might have been posted overnight. Nicola and Brooklyn have maintained a low profile on social media, seeking peace amid the ongoing family tensions.

The rift appears to stem from a series of disputes over the wedding and subsequent family interactions. Nicola was reportedly disappointed when Victoria Beckham promised to design her wedding dress but did not deliver, and tensions escalated during public commentary about the couple. Brooklyn did not attend David’s 50th birthday celebrations last summer and also did not publicly congratulate his father on his knighthood in November.

Sources say that Team Brooklyn believes a proper apology is needed to repair relations, while the senior Beckhams, still hurt by leaks and perceived attacks on Victoria, want to reconcile and simply be back in contact with their son.
