Man Arrested for Pointing Toy Gun at Motorist on KL-Seremban Highway

Date:

Police have arrested a 60-year-old man after he was caught on video pointing what appeared to be a gun at another motorist along the Kuala Lumpur–Seremban highway, only for it to later be confirmed as a toy pistol.

Brickfields police chief Assistant Commissioner Hoo Chan Hook said the incident happened after the suspect became upset when another driver cut into his lane without using a signal.

The man then overtook the other vehicle, but the situation escalated when the driver rolled down his window to scold him. In response, the suspect wound down his own window and aimed a toy pistol at the driver, causing alarm.

The incident went viral after a 34-second clip showed the driver of a red SUV pointing the weapon while on the highway. A police report was lodged, leading to the man’s arrest at about 7pm.

Police later confirmed that the suspect admitted to being the person in the video. Officers also seized two toy pistols and the SUV used in the incident.

Hoo added that the man is unemployed and has a prior criminal record. Police will seek a remand order as investigations continue under offences related to the possession of an imitation firearm.
