Upside-Down Jalur Gemilang Forces Company in Johor to Close

Date:

A company in Senai Airport City, Johor, was ordered to shut down temporarily after the national flag was mistakenly hung upside down, prompting public outcry and government action.

The incident was brought to light when a netizen posted a video online, which quickly went viral and drew attention from both authorities and the public.

According to China Press, the Kulai Municipal Council (MPKu) arrived at the company and issued a shutdown order at 12:05am today, under Section 49(2) of the 2019 Kulai Municipal Council Licensing, Trade and Industry By-laws, pending further notice.

Johor Housing and Local Government Committee chairman Datuk Mohd Jafni Md Shukor confirmed that corrective action had been taken and revealed that the mistake was made by a foreign worker.

MPKu president Mohd Hafiz Alima said authorities are continuing their investigation but declined further comment.
