Fadhlina: New Policy Will Ensure Students Are Safe and Protected

Date:

The Ministry of Education (MOE) will introduce a Child Protection Policy in schools as part of efforts to strengthen student safety and welfare and ensure a zero-tolerance approach to bullying.

Education Minister Fadhlina Sidek said the policy is a key measure to create a safe and protected educational ecosystem, emphasizing shared responsibility among all stakeholders.

“I have already stressed in my New Year’s message that we will not compromise on bullying. This responsibility must be shared to ensure schools remain safe and our children are protected. This year, all parties will sign the Child Protection Policy, committing to safeguard and nurture our students,” she said.

Fadhlina made the remarks during a press conference after visiting Sekolah Jenis Kebangsaan Cina (SJKC) Ladang Regent, Elmina, on the first day of the 2026/2027 academic year.

She added that the initiative is crucial to ensure students are in a safe, protected, and threat-free environment. The policy will be rolled out in conjunction with the start of the new school session.

In addition, Fadhlina noted that the “Sekolah Sejahtera” (Safe School) manual is in its final stages and will soon be shared with parents and the community.

She also shared that over 400,000 students are starting Year One nationwide this year, with nearly the same number entering Form One.

“For Year One, we have 442,000 students, and for Form One, approximately 400,000. These are the children we welcome into our schools this year,” she said.
