Investigation Launched After Off-Duty Policeman Slaps Motorcyclist in Johor

Date:

An internal investigation has been initiated after a video surfaced showing a motorcyclist being slapped by an off-duty police officer at a petrol station in Taman Perling, Johor.

Acting Johor Baru (North) Police Chief, Superintendent Azrol Anuar Nor, confirmed that the case involves a policeman attached to the district.

“The incident occurred at 6:50 pm yesterday. We have identified the motorcyclist and are making efforts to trace him to assist with the investigation. He did not file a police report,” Azrol said in a statement today.

He added that the police take any allegations of misconduct involving officers or personnel very seriously and that firm action will be taken if the investigation finds any breaches of law, regulations, or established codes of conduct.

The 33-second video of the incident has been widely shared across social media platforms. The officer involved was on leave at the time.

Azrol assured that the investigation will be conducted transparently, fairly, and with integrity.
