A former local child star has revealed a deeply traumatic childhood, alleging that he was subjected to repeated sexual abuse after being sent to live with relatives at the age of eight.
In a recent social media post, the former child actor said he began working in the entertainment industry at a young age to help support his family, which was struggling financially and had many children to care for. At around eight years old, he travelled alone from Johor to Kuala Lumpur and stayed with a relative — an arrangement that marked the beginning of what he described as the darkest period of his life.
“While I was living there, I was forced to endure many disgusting acts. I remained silent just to survive, and only managed to escape at the age of 17,” he wrote.
He alleged that the abuse was carried out repeatedly by a blood relative and involved serious sexual misconduct, leaving long-lasting physical and psychological trauma.
The former child star described the experience as an indelible scar that continues to haunt him.
“To the outside world, my life as a child star appeared glamorous. But behind that image was pain and resentment that I have never been able to let go,” he said.
He explained that he had chosen to remain silent for years out of consideration for family relationships, but stressed that he would disclose more details when the time was right.
He also claimed that others may have been victimised during that period and warned that some victims could still be suffering today.
In a follow-up post yesterday, he said his family had requested that he temporarily delay making further disclosures due to the death of a close relative.
“I ask everyone to be patient. After the three-day mourning period ends, I will speak the truth,” he wrote.
