Woman in Viral Child Abuse Video Is Children’s Grandmother, Says Police

Date:

Johor police have dismissed viral allegations of child abuse involving two young children in Taman Daya, confirming that no offence took place.

Johor Baru South police chief ACP Raub Selamat said the woman seen in the widely shared social media post was the children’s grandmother, who has been caring for them since birth.

Police received a report at about 10.20am yesterday after concerns were raised online about the children’s safety. An immediate investigation was launched following the viral claims.

“Initial findings confirmed that the woman and the two children are related. They are her grandchildren, and no elements of abuse were found. There were also no injuries detected on either child,” Raub said in a statement.

The case has since been classified as no further action after officers verified the situation on the ground.

Raub also urged the public not to spread unverified information or speculate on social media, warning that it could cause unnecessary panic and harm to those involved.

Earlier, a social media post had claimed that a toddler in Taman Daya was pinched and hit with a slipper by a woman in public, prompting widespread concern. Police have now confirmed that those claims were unfounded.
