Two people were killed while two others were injured in a three-vehicle collision along Jalan Puncak Borneo near Kampung Keru, Padawan, early today.
The accident, which occurred at about 5.30am, involved a Proton Iswara, a Perodua Myvi and a Proton Exora, with a total of four victims at the scene.
A spokesperson for the Sarawak Fire and Rescue Department’s Operations Centre said a distress call was received at 5.40am, prompting the deployment of eight firefighters from the Siburan Fire and Rescue Station to the location, about 35km away.
Upon arriving at the scene at around 6.20am, rescuers found two victims trapped inside the Perodua Myvi. One of them, an adult man whose identity has yet to be confirmed, was pronounced dead at the scene by Ministry of Health ambulance personnel.
Another victim, a 38-year-old woman travelling in the Proton Exora, identified as Penssy a/p Panirselvam, was not trapped but was also confirmed dead at the scene by medical personnel.
The remaining two victims sustained injuries and were rushed to Sarawak General Hospital for further treatment.
