His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim, King of Malaysia, today reaffirmed his commitment to an uncompromising fight against corruption, warning that individuals in positions of power, including members of Parliament and the Senate, would not be spared.
Speaking at the opening ceremony of the First Meeting of the Fifth Term of the 15th Parliament, the King said no one would be exempt from scrutiny, regardless of rank, status or office.
He stressed that corruption would continue to undermine national policies and development if left unchecked, adding that those who abuse their authority, misuse public funds, accept bribes or protect corrupt individuals would be pursued until justice is served.
“I wish to remind all that no plan or policy will ever be effective if corruption remains widespread,” he said.
Sultan Ibrahim reiterated that he had come to Kuala Lumpur with a firm resolve to tackle corruption and noted that progress had already been made.
“I am confident there are still many more, whether in the Customs Department, Immigration, the police and other agencies — including those within this hall — who will continue to be pursued until they are found,” he added.
The royal address underscored a strong warning that the fight against corruption would remain a top national priority.
