Woman Runs Off After Being Accused of Scamming Travellers at KLIA

Date:

Malaysians have been urged to remain vigilant following the circulation of a viral video allegedly showing a woman attempting to scam members of the public at Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA).

The footage, shared on a Facebook page, shows a neatly dressed woman being confronted by a member of the public before fleeing the scene. The woman was claimed in the post to be a Chinese national.

In a separate video, the man who recorded the incident explained that he decided to intervene after witnessing the woman repeatedly approaching travellers for money.

“I saw her trying to scam people as soon as I stepped out to get a ride. I couldn’t accept it, so I followed her and started recording,” he said.

According to the man, the woman approached a potential victim and asked whether he could speak Chinese before claiming she had been separated from a friend during a business trip and had no money for transport.

The incident has since sparked wider discussion online. An X account, TGTM_Official, claimed that similar individuals have been targeting people at transport hubs and popular locations around Kuala Lumpur.

The post alleged that the scammers often fabricate stories about running out of money after gambling at Genting Casino or lacking funds for food, promising to repay victims later once trust is gained.

Netizens have since been reminded to be cautious when approached by strangers asking for money, particularly in crowded public areas such as airports, and to report any suspicious behaviour to authorities.
