Ex-Armed Forces Chief Faces Four Charges In RM4.7 Million Scandal

Former armed forces chief Tan Sri Mohd Nizam Jaafar appeared at the Sessions Court this morning to face four charges involving corruption and criminal breach of trust (CBT) amounting to RM4.7 million.

Nizam, 60, arrived at the courthouse at about 8.30am and was escorted into the courtroom by officers from the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC).

He was greeted by a large number of reporters and photographers but did not respond to questions from the media as he was led inside amid flashing cameras.

The retired general is expected to be charged with two counts of abusing his position for gratification, one count of CBT, and one count of accepting valuable items without consideration.

The alleged offences were committed during his tenure overseeing the Armed Forces’ welfare and investment funds.
