Over 18,000 Apply For Extra Subsidised Diesel Quota Under BUDI MADANI

Date:

More than 18,000 eligible owners of diesel-powered pickup trucks and sport utility vehicles (SUVs) have applied for an additional 100 litres of subsidised diesel per month through the BUDI MADANI portal as of 10pm on Monday.

Finance Minister II Datuk Seri Amir Hamzah Azizan said the rollout of the BUDI MADANI Diesel (BUDI Diesel) programme has entered its second day smoothly, with no technical issues reported since its early implementation began.

He revealed that more than 40,000 transactions had been recorded since the initiative was launched on Sunday, reflecting strong public participation in the subsidised diesel scheme.

Amir Hamzah spoke to reporters after inspecting the early implementation of BUDI Diesel at the Petronas service station along the NKVE heading towards Damansara. Also present was Treasury Secretary-General Tan Sri Johan Mahmood Merican.

He said eligible vehicle owners can submit applications for the additional diesel quota online through the official BUDI MADANI portal. Those requiring assistance may seek help at Inland Revenue Board (LHDN) offices, Urban Transformation Centres (UTCs), or counters set up by participating fuel companies.

The minister also announced that the government has introduced a quota transfer facility for cases where the registered owner of a vehicle is different from its actual user.

“Applications for quota transfers can also be made through the same portal. We will ensure the subsidised quota is transferred to the rightful user,” he said.

Following the transfer, verification at fuel stations will be carried out using the identification card number linked to the new beneficiary. Although the quota will remain tied to the vehicle, it can only be utilised by the individual officially registered under the scheme.

Amir Hamzah added that no technical issues involving the system or petrol station operators have been reported so far, with the government continuing to monitor the implementation closely ahead of the programme’s full rollout on July 1.

Under the early implementation phase in Peninsular Malaysia, eligible motorists currently enjoy subsidised diesel at RM2.15 per litre for a flexible quota of up to 200 litres. The subsidised price will be reduced to RM2.10 per litre beginning Wednesday.
