No Malaysians Affected In New Zealand Landslide, Foreign Ministry Confirms

The Malaysian Foreign Ministry has confirmed that no Malaysians were reported to have been affected by a landslide in New Zealand on Thursday.

In a media advisory, the ministry said the High Commission of Malaysia in Wellington is closely monitoring the situation following the incident, which occurred at a campground on Mount Maunganui at around 9.30am local time.

“The High Commission of Malaysia in Wellington is in close contact with the relevant New Zealand authorities as well as the Auckland Malaysian Society regarding the incident. The ministry confirms that no Malaysian nationals have been reported to be affected,” the advisory stated.

The ministry added that Malaysians requiring consular assistance may contact the High Commission at +64-4-385 2439 (main line) or +64-21-044 0188 (emergency or after-hours). They can also reach the High Commission via email at nz.cons@kln.gov.my.

The ministry said it will continue to monitor developments related to the landslide and provide updates as necessary.
