A 27-year-old Singaporean woman riding pillion on a motorcycle died instantly after a collision involving a trailer truck in Johor Bahru, Malaysia, on January 21. The motorcyclist, a 38-year-old Malaysian man, also died at the scene.
The accident occurred at around 2:05pm on Wednesday along the North–South Expressway. The pair were travelling south from Bandar Dato’ Onn towards Johor Bahru city centre when the incident took place.
According to Malaysian police, the motorcycle attempted to overtake a lorry but lost control, striking the right rear side of the vehicle and falling over. Both the rider and pillion passenger were then run over by a trailer truck approaching from their right.
The bodies of the deceased were sent to Sultanah Aminah Hospital for autopsy. The lorry driver, 45, and the trailer truck driver, 35, are both Malaysian nationals.
Police investigations are ongoing. Authorities have urged anyone with information about the accident to contact the Johor police.
