Woman Dies From Throat Infection After Spicy Hotpot Meal

Date:

A tragic incident in China has raised awareness about the dangers of acute epiglottitis after a young woman died just minutes after seeking medical help.

According to Dahe Daily, the 26-year-old woman was admitted to Zhengzhou People’s Hospital after experiencing severe breathing difficulties. She had earlier complained of throat pain following a meal of spicy hotpot, believing the discomfort was caused by the food’s strong flavours.

However, her condition worsened the following day when she began having trouble breathing. Despite being rushed to hospital for emergency treatment, doctors were unable to save her. She died just 10 minutes after arriving at the hospital.

Medical professionals later confirmed the cause of death as acute epiglottitis, a rapidly progressing and potentially fatal condition that can obstruct the airway.

Doctors have since urged the public to seek immediate medical attention if they experience persistent or worsening throat pain, especially when accompanied by breathing difficulties, warning that delays can be deadly.
