Pos Malaysia has issued a final reminder to motorists who still require a physical road tax slip to complete their renewals at post offices nationwide before the Feb 1 deadline.
From that date, the Road Transport Department (JPJ) will officially stop issuing printed road tax slips for all privately owned vehicles owned by Malaysian citizens, completing the government’s transition to a fully digital system.
The move was first announced by Transport Minister Anthony Loke in February 2023 as part of efforts to modernise vehicle documentation.
Under the new system, private vehicle owners can display their digital Motor Vehicle Licence (e-LKM), commonly known as road tax, as well as their digital Malaysian Driving Licence (e-LMM), via the MyJPJ application. This eliminates the need for physical road tax slips and licence cards.
Authorities said the digitalisation initiative aims to reduce congestion at JPJ counters, cut administrative costs, and improve convenience for motorists.
After Feb 1, all road tax renewals will be conducted digitally, with motorists able to access and show their e-LKM directly through the MyJPJ app.
