Fake Immigration Officers Rob Burmese Worker in Armed Heist, 2 Suspects Arrested

Date:

Six men posing as immigration officers carried out an armed robbery on a 44-year-old Burmese migrant worker in Bukit Tinggi, Selangor. Police have arrested two suspects in Kuala Lumpur while tracking down the remaining four fugitives.

The incident occurred on the morning of January 13 at Ladang Chip Joo. According to Selangor Tengah District Police Chief, Assistant Commissioner Hilmi, the victim reported that six men dressed in dark clothing and wearing masks arrived at his home in a white Proton X70.

“Five of the men entered the house claiming to be immigration officers. They ransacked the premises, brandishing machetes, and stole gold jewelry, cash, and mobile phones valued at around RM4,000,” he said.

Based on intelligence, police launched a raid in Kuala Lumpur on January 18, arresting a 38-year-old Indian male in Bukit Jalil and a 32-year-old Malay male in Ampang.

During the operation, authorities seized the white Proton X70 allegedly used in the crime, along with several phones, clothing, and accessories linked to the robbery.

The two arrested suspects have prior criminal and drug records, with urine tests revealing methamphetamine use.

Police are investigating the case under Sections 395/397 of the Penal Code (armed gang robbery), which carries a maximum sentence of 20 years in prison and caning if convicted.

The suspects are scheduled to be brought to the North Seberang Perai Magistrate’s Court on January 28. Police continue to search for the other four men involved and urge the public to report any information to Officer Fakru at 016-337 4941 or visit any police station.
