Bad luck struck once again for Lee Zii Jia as he was forced to retire during his quarter-final match against Indonesia’s Alwi Farhan at the Thailand Masters on Friday.
The former world No. 2 had comfortably taken the first game 21-10 but lost the second 21-15 and did not proceed to the deciding game. Zii Jia, whose career has been plagued by a string of injuries since December 2024, required medical attention during the match, though the exact nature and severity of his condition remain unclear.
This latest setback deals another blow to his efforts to regain form and momentum following an extended hiatus from competition last year.
