Another Singapore-registered vehicle has been caught refuelling with subsidised RON95 petrol in Malaysia.
A photo shared on the SG Road Vigilante Facebook page shows a white Honda Spada pumping RON95 at a Caltex Educity petrol station in Eco Botanics, Johor. The incident reportedly took place on Jan. 26, 2026, at around 3pm.
New RON95 rules in the works
The Malaysian government is tightening rules to prevent foreign vehicles from purchasing subsidised RON95 fuel. New regulations are being drafted and are expected to take effect from Apr. 1, 2026.
Currently, enforcement action can only be taken against petrol station operators who sell RON95 to foreign-registered vehicles, not against the vehicle owners themselves. The new rules aim to address subsidy leakages, particularly in border states.
RON95, introduced to ease the cost of living for Malaysians, is identifiable at petrol stations by its yellow nozzle and yellow pump labeling. Foreign vehicles are advised to use RON97 or RON100 instead.
