An unlicensed beauty clinic allegedly run by an unqualified “doctor” from China was raided by the Malaysian Immigration Department (JIM) during Ops Dadan in Bukit Bintang yesterday.
Datuk Zakaria Shaaban, Director-General of Immigration Malaysia, said a total of 15 foreign nationals were arrested during the operation carried out by officers from JIM Kuala Lumpur.
The raid followed intelligence gathered after public complaints about the foreign workers conducting beauty procedures without approval from the Ministry of Health Malaysia (KKM).
“This clinic was offering facial and body beauty treatments using foreign workers who misused Social Visit Passes (PLS) to perform procedures,” he said.
The clinic is believed to be owned by a Chinese national who has been operating illegally for a year, generating profits of hundreds of thousands of ringgit, according to Zakaria.
A total of 18 individuals were inspected during the raid, with 15 detained: six Chinese men, seven Chinese women, and two Myanmar women. The remaining three, who were local employees, were issued notices to report to JIM Kuala Lumpur on a scheduled date to assist in the investigation.
Initial investigations revealed that all the detained foreign nationals were conducting beauty treatments without proper authorization and did not hold valid Temporary Work Visit Passes (PLKS).
Officers also seized uniforms, mobile phones, laptops, CCTV equipment, business licenses, and other company documents during the operation.
“The foreign nationals are being held to assist investigations under Section 6(1)(c) of the Immigration Act 1959/63 and Regulation 39(b) of the Immigration Regulations 1963,” Zakaria added.
He emphasised that strict enforcement will continue to crack down on illegal activities, particularly those involving foreign nationals, and urged the public to report any relevant information through JIM’s official complaint channels.
