“Bak Kwa Nails” Go Viral: Singapore Nail Studio Turns Snack Into Stunning Press-Ons

Date:

Just ahead of Chinese New Year, a Singapore-based nail studio has caught attention online with a set of hyper-realistic press-on nails inspired by bak kwa, leaving many doing a double take.

Neko Nail Co. went viral after showcasing the edible-looking nail set, created by nail artist Xun-Lin, which closely resembles freshly grilled slices of the popular barbecued meat delicacy. The design features glossy caramelised finishes, deep reddish-brown hues and a subtly uneven texture that mirrors the appearance of bak kwa straight off a charcoal grill.

Close-up images reveal meticulous detailing, with colour gradients and shine crafted to imitate the glistening surface of grilled meat, sparking amused reactions from netizens who joked the nails looked good enough to eat.

Speaking to SAYS, Xun-Lin said the bak kwa–inspired press-on nails are priced at SGD58 (about RM181) and are available for delivery to Malaysia, making them accessible to customers beyond Singapore.

The home-based studio operates by appointment only and is located at The Sail at Marina Bay. In addition to statement designs, Neko Nail Co. also provides a range of services including classic gel manicures, gel extensions, basic and deluxe nail art, as well as fully customised sets tailored to individual preferences.

The unconventional design has been widely shared online, adding a playful and festive twist to Chinese New Year-inspired beauty trends while showcasing the growing creativity within the nail art scene.
