Penang police have detained two men to assist with the investigation into the murder of a 41-year-old single mother at her flat in Sungai Dua.
Police chief Datuk Azizee Ismail confirmed that the suspects were arrested several hours after the incident within the district. “The two suspects have been remanded today to assist in the ongoing investigation,” he said.
Authorities are currently awaiting the post-mortem report from the victim’s autopsy conducted at Kepala Batas Hospital. The case is being investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder.
The victim was discovered lying on a bed with slash wounds to her neck yesterday. A neighbour reportedly alerted police at 1:40 pm after finding her unresponsive.
While the flat’s front door was open, the metal grille gate was locked, according to initial observations.
The victim, who lived with her 15-year-old son, worked ferrying several students residing in the flat to school. Police investigations are ongoing to determine the full circumstances surrounding the incident.
