BTS Fans Outraged as HYBE Limits Old Light Sticks; VER. 4 Upgrade Sparks Backlash

Date:

HYBE has released a teaser for the latest official BTS light stick.

In a notice on Weverse, the company announced the launch of BTS’s official light stick VER. 4, marking a major upgrade six years after the previous SE edition. The announcement also revealed that wireless control for older versions will only be supported until the Las Vegas concert in May. Starting with the Busan concert in June, only the new VER. 4 will be compatible with wireless features.

The news has sparked frustration among fans, who feel pressured to purchase the new version. Many voiced their disappointment online, saying:

  • “I’m going to buy it, but not being able to connect with the older versions is annoying.”
  • “If they won’t connect to previous versions, then they’re basically forcing everyone to buy the new version. HYBE really are a bunch of money-crazy freaks.”
  • “I didn’t even use my SE edition that much. They’re going overboard, not letting the older versions connect.”
  • “This is ridiculous. If they wanted to sell new ones, they should’ve made a version so appealing that fans would want it anyway.”
  • “Think about all the plastic waste every time a new version comes out. They need some regulations.”

Fans are now weighing whether to upgrade or keep their older editions as HYBE prepares for the new tour.
