Son To Be Charged With Mother’s Murder In Taman Sultan Abdul Halim

Date:

A 29-year-old man arrested in connection with the murder of his mother earlier this month is scheduled to be charged at the magistrate’s court today.

The suspect is expected to face charges under Section 302 of the Penal Code for the killing of Zahrullail Basir, which occurred at their home in Taman Sultan Abdul Halim on Feb 2.

Zahrullail, an operations executive at a local bank, was discovered with three stab wounds to her abdomen, as well as injuries to her head and palms.

Authorities said the suspect was apprehended on a bus en route to Selangor on the night of the incident.

Preliminary investigations suggest the man may have had outstanding debts with unlicensed moneylenders in Penang, which could be linked to the motive for the crime.
