Digital Minister Confirms Gradual Rollout of “Government Super App”

Date:

The government is taking steps to consolidate its digital services into a single platform, but developing a full “Government Super App” will be a gradual effort, Digital Minister Gobind Singh Deo told the Dewan Rakyat today.

During a session responding to Bakri MP Tan Hong Pin, Gobind highlighted that the Digital Ministry has already launched MyGov Malaysia, an integrated platform designed to centralise information and services from multiple government agencies. The platform also incorporates MyDigital ID, the national digital identity system, allowing users to securely access multiple services with one login.

This year, more than 30 additional government service applications are expected to be integrated into MyGov, which currently offers 44 services across 16 agencies, focusing on high-impact services frequently used by the public, such as applications and payment functions.

Gobind emphasised that existing apps, including MySejahtera, MyBorderPass, and MyJPJ, will not be replaced immediately. Instead, the platform will gradually integrate services based on user demand and usage patterns, ensuring continuity for widely used apps while new functions are introduced seamlessly.

Concerns over security were raised by Alor Setar MP Afnan Hamimi Taib Azamudden, noting that consolidating apps increases potential risk. Gobind assured that the government prioritises data protection, citing the Cyber Security Act 2024 and the updated Personal Data and Data Sharing Act, which provide legal safeguards for public data.

He clarified that MyGov differs from other government platforms, such as the Central Database Hub (Padu), by focusing specifically on government service integration, while other apps serve specialised initiatives or data purposes.

The Minister concluded that although full integration will take time, the government’s ultimate objective is to offer Malaysians a single, secure, and convenient platform to access all government services efficiently.
