Father Suffers Neck And Hand Injuries After Alleged Parang Attack By Son

A late-night drinking session between a father and son ended in bloodshed after a dispute escalated into a violent attack at a residential area in Taman Desa Wira, Batu Kawa.

The incident, believed to have been triggered by alcohol, occurred at about 11.15pm yesterday. The victim, a 49-year-old man, sustained serious injuries after being slashed twice by his 23-year-old son.

According to information gathered, the pair had been drinking at home before an argument broke out around midnight. What began as a verbal altercation quickly spiralled into physical violence, with the son allegedly attacking his father using a parang.

During the chaos, the victim suffered deep cuts to his right neck and left hand. Individuals at the scene managed to wrest the weapon from the suspect and immediately checked on the injured man before contacting emergency services.

The suspect fled shortly after the attack and remains at large. Paramedics from Sarawak General Hospital were dispatched to the scene and transported the seriously injured victim to the hospital’s Red Zone for urgent treatment.

Padawan district police chief Superintendent Mohamad Irwan confirmed the case, stating that investigations are being conducted under Section 324 of the Penal Code for voluntarily causing hurt with a weapon. As of noon today, police are still tracking down the suspect.
