Woman Safely Delivers Baby on Due Date After E-Hailing Driver Didn’t Charge Her

Date:

A woman expressed her gratitude after safely delivering her baby exactly on her due date, with the assistance of an e-hailing driver.

In a post on Threads, user Syafiqahnorazman shared that she gave birth on 12 February 2026 at 10:51 pm, precisely on the date she had expected.

“Alhamdulillah, I’ve safely delivered. I entered the labour room around 9 pm and gave birth just after 10 pm, no tears or stitches. Thank God, everything went smoothly,” she wrote.

The tense moment began when she took an e-hailing ride from Pandan Indah, Kuala Lumpur, to Hospital Ampang while enduring increasingly strong contractions.

The driver, Lai Wai Kin, immediately noticed her discomfort and asked how she was feeling. “He picked me up and asked because I looked like I was in pain. I told him I was going into labour—I could barely speak because of the pain,” she recounted.

Generously, the driver told her she didn’t need to pay for the ride to the hospital. “He even said there was no charge for the trip to the hospital,” she added.

The new mother also took the opportunity to wish him well for the upcoming Chinese New Year. “Happy Chinese New Year to you and your family! May good things always come your way,” she wrote.

Her post quickly caught the attention of other Threads users, many touched by the driver’s kindness, and they offered well wishes for both mother and baby.

“Lai Wai Kin, may good things return to you. Congratulations on a safe delivery,” wrote @izxati_.

“Hope all the traffic lights turn green for him and that he gets good passengers,” commented Kakchimoy.

“Congratulations on your confinement! Kudos to the Grab driver for selflessly helping a pregnant mother. Hopefully, Grab rewards him with a red packet this Chinese New Year,” added Syuhada.
