A Taiwanese couple in their 60s were left shaken after noticing an eerie, human-like figure in a photo taken during their Lunar New Year trip, according to local media reports.

The couple, surnamed Lin, travelled from northern Taiwan to Hengchun, Pingtung County, and visited Aga’s House, the filming location of the romantic comedy Cape No. 7, on 17 February. While photographing his wife, Mr Lin noticed what appeared to be an elderly woman standing beside him. Believing it to be a staff member requesting a NTD50 (S$2) photo fee, he reached for his wallet—but the figure had vanished, leaving the couple puzzled.
Later that evening, as they reviewed their photos at their accommodation, the couple discovered a human-like silhouette behind the wife, seemingly staring directly at the camera. Frightened by the image, they reportedly struggled to sleep that night.
Seeking reassurance, the couple visited Hengchun City God Temple the next morning. Temple chairman Gong Jianliang guided them through a ritual of offering incense, prayers, and burning paper money to ward off misfortune. Following the ceremony, the couple reported feeling calmer.
The owner of Aga’s House, Zhang Yongyuan, said that neither he nor the staff had seen the elderly woman, as the attraction was closed at the time. Local residents also reported never seeing the figure. Professional photographers suggest the image may have captured a passerby whose silhouette was reflected through an object, though the photo continues to intrigue locals and tourists alike.
