Toddler Injured After Mistaking Firecracker For Candy

Date:

A toddler in Guangdong, China, suffered minor injuries to her tongue after accidentally putting a firecracker in her mouth, mistaking it for candy. The incident occurred on February 21, 2026, according to 8world.

The child’s mother had been teaching her how to handle the firecracker but briefly left her unattended. During that moment, the toddler placed the firecracker in her mouth, which then exploded with a loud “pop,” according to online video footage reported by Sing Tao Daily.

The blast caused the girl to jerk backward and cry from the pain. Her mother immediately rushed to her side to comfort her.

The mother later expressed remorse for not supervising her daughter closely. Thankfully, while the child sustained an injury to her tongue, it was not considered serious, news.china.com reported.
