A wedding procession in Krabi, Thailand, took an extraordinary turn when a groom arrived at his bride’s home accompanied by a roaring convoy of 20 tractors, turning the celebration into a spectacle that captivated villagers and guests alike.
The event, which took place on Monday (23 February), saw 27-year-old Mr Anupong Udomsri travel from Phru Tiao Subdistrict to Na Khao Subdistrict, where his 25-year-old bride, Ms Nittaya Ruengrat, resides. Instead of a typical bridal convoy, the groom transformed the district’s roads into a lively parade of agricultural machinery, drawing crowds who stepped out to record the moment on their phones.
The dramatic arrival formed part of a traditional Thai wedding custom, where the groom must pass through symbolic “gates” before entering the bride’s home. Some of these playful challenges required groomsmen to complete physical tasks before Mr Anupong could proceed with the ring ceremony and present a dowry of 500,000 baht (approximately RM61,458).
Adding to the uniqueness of the celebration was the couple’s unconventional love story. The pair first met at a gambling gathering, with the groom later joking that he would invite his wife to play “Kaeng”, a traditional Southern Thai card game, after the wedding.
The tractor convoy also carried personal significance. Mr Anupong’s family works in palm and rubber plantations and owns two tractors. Wanting to create something meaningful, he invited fellow farming friends to join the procession with their own vehicles. The result was not only a show-stopping entrance but also a tribute to his roots and livelihood — a reminder that weddings can be both grand and deeply personal.
