GAME FREAK Reveals Pokémon Winds and Waves, Featuring New Starters and Stunning Islands

Date:

The latest Pokémon Presents has unveiled a captivating trailer for Pokémon Winds and Pokémon Waves, the next mainline entries in the Pokémon series, developed by GAME FREAK exclusively for the Nintendo Switch 2. Set in a vibrant open world, the games feature windswept islands and a shimmering ocean, where Pokémon have adapted to the region’s rich and diverse ecosystems. Players will explore these environments while teaming up with Pokémon to navigate challenging terrain and even the unpredictable forces of nature.

Your main character’s outfit will vary depending on the version you play, and you’ll choose one of three starter Pokémon. Grass enthusiasts can partner with Browt, the lively but clumsy Bean Chick Pokémon; Fire fans can pick Pombon, the friendly and guileless Puppy Pokémon; and Water lovers can opt for Gecqua, the intelligent Water Gecko Pokémon. Each choice promises a unique adventure experience tailored to your playstyle.

The trailer also introduced two special Pikachu variants—Mr. Windychu and Ms. Wavychu—though their role in the games remains a mystery for now, building anticipation for fans.

For the first time, Brazilian Portuguese will be officially supported as a selectable language in Pokémon Winds and Pokémon Waves, making the new titles more accessible to a global audience.

Both games are scheduled for a worldwide release in 2027. Fans can stay up to date and learn more by visiting Pokemon.com.

This highly anticipated release promises a fresh, immersive Pokémon experience with stunning environments, new starter companions, and expanded language support, bringing the world of Pokémon closer to fans everywhere.
